Townhouse Friedrichswerder

2007

The new urban district emerging between the Foreign Office and Gendarmenmarkt will be dominated by a new typology, namely, the townhouse. Berlin’s townhouses are usually five-storey residential or commercial buildings rising from a narrow piece of land. The architectural challenge here is to take the municipal building regulations as a basis for creating individual, varied façades. The harmonious character of the townhouse at 20 Caroline-von-Humboldt-Weg derives from its attractive stone façade.
