Converting a private home to provide a barrier-free residence for senior citizens was the brief for this project. It was essential for the architects to be intimately familiar with the latest technical regulations and innovations before they started altering ground plans and working with existing structures. Meuser Architekten BDA also publicized this topic in the monograph Accessible Architecture (Berlin 2009), which documents fifty examples of barrier-free construction.
