Reconstruction of St. Peter's Church2009 |
The reconstruction of St. Peter's constitutes a statement that is both architectural and political. Razed to the ground in 1964, the church foundations now lie under a six-lane motorway. Therefore, it is necessary to design a new construction that links the past with the present. The alignment of the church is oriented to the west; the nave, however, is tapered in comparison with its medieval predecessor. Light fittings in the façade ascend from the ground up to the eaves. The twin towers correspond to the newly developing space at the Latin school. |
